Internet America Announces Acquisition of Interlink Wireless and Interlink Computer Connection

Dallas, September 20, 2004 (OTC Bulletin Board: GEEK - News) – Internet America Inc., a leading Internet service provider, today announced that it has acquired the assets of Interlink Computer Connection and Interlink Wireless, a regional Texas ISP delivering dial-up and wireless Internet connectivity to customers in the Hillsboro, Texas region.

Privately-held Interlink was started in 1993 to provide Internet access solutions and related services to twelve cities in the Hillsboro area. Interlink currently provides dial-up and wireless Internet to more than 2,000 residential and corporate customers, with a large percentage of new customers choosing wireless technology to receive broadband Internet.

“We are excited to be joining with Internet America to help realize our mission of offering high-speed Internet to everyone in the community,” said Tom Hemrick, Interlink’s owner. “Becoming a part of Internet America will allow us to further expand our coverage area, be able to offer new products and services previously unavailable to our customers, and to provide a higher level of service and support. It’s a win-win for both Interlink and the Hillsboro region.”

“This marks the first acquisition in a series we are planning as we execute on our recently approved plan to add significant numbers of new Internet access customers via acquisition,” said Billy Ladin, CEO of Internet America. “We are focusing on ISPs in the region with a loyal customer base who can take advantage of the economies of scale that a larger ISP can provide for their operations.
