NoDial Acquisition:
Frequently Asked Questions
- Q. What change has taken place?
- A. NoDial has become a part of the Internet America family. That means more Internet products and services and an even better Internet experience.
- Q. How does this affect my billing?
- A. June will be the last month that you will receive an invoice from NoDial. Starting in July, your invoice will be from Internet America. If NoDial automatically bills your credit card or withdraws your monthly payment from your checking account, in July, your statement will note that the funds have been withdrawn by Internet America. If you have any questions regarding your invoice, please call 1.800.Be.A.Geek. One exception - if you have an automatic monthly Paypal subscription, we will be contacting you about converting it to an automatic monthly credit card charge or bank draft.
- Q. Will the cost of my Internet service change?
- A. No! Your Internet service monthly fee will not change.
- Q. What will happen to my e-mail address?
- A. You will still have the same e-mail address that you have always had. You will not see any change in your e-mail except possibly less SPAM!
- Q. What does this mean for my service?
- A. No. The service you receive today will not change. In fact, because Internet America has a larger presence across the United States, we will be able to provide you with access to services that were not available to you before. In fact, you might even see better performance out of your Internet.
- Q. Will Internet America be able to do anything about reducing the amount of SPAM I receive?
- A. Internet America's SPAM filtering blocks almost all unsolicited emails.
It also gives you the ability to turn it on and off depending upon your own personal preference. And if you do receive SPAM, you will be able to forward it to Internet America's Policy Enforcement Department to handle.
- Q. Should I call a different number for service or support?
- A. Yes! If you are in the need of customer support, please call 1.800.Be.A.Geek. Our talented customer support team will be able to assist you with all your Internet needs.
- Q. When will the products and services Internet America offers be available to me?
- A. Within the next 30 days, all the products and services Internet America offers will be available to you. Please visit www.InternetAmerica.com for more information.
- Q. Will there still be an office in Victoria area?
- A. Yes. Pete Davis is now a part of the Internet America family. He will remain in the Victoria area.
- Q. I run applications that use a static IP (ie. Servers, web cameras, VPN, etc), what will happen to my existing IP address?
- A. As a result of our migration of network services to Internet America, your static IP address *WILL* change. If you have physical access to your network, you can lookup your new IP address when the change occurs. If you do not have physical access to your network, you can simply give our support department a call at 1.800.Be.A.Geek, and we'll be happy to give you your new IP address. In preparation for this IP address change, if your network or applications support dynamic DNS services (like dyndns.com, no-ip.com, tzo.com) we'd suggest enrolling for a free account. A dynamic DNS service provides a way for your computer, device or application to constantly update to see what its IP address is and assign it to a domain name. Hey, it's easier than memorizing a bunch of numbers. Either way, we'll be here if you need any help.
- Q. Can I get a copy of the letter that was e-mailed to me and included with my billing statement?
- A. The following is the full text of that letter:
Thank you for giving me a moment of your time. I would like to tell you about some very exciting things that are going on at NoDial. After a lot of consideration, I have decided to partner with Internet America so that we can provide you, our loyal customers, with more Internet products and services and an even better Internet experience.
Internet America is one of the oldest ISP's in the country. They started in a tiny garage in 1995 in Plano, Texas. Over the years they have built an Internet service business by treating customers right. You may have even seen some of their advertising. They have the 1-800-Be-A-Geek phone number, and their Web site is www.InternetAmerica.com.
Internet America has built a reputation in the community for providing award winning telephone customer service. Also, Internet America will be able to provide you with more added services than you are currently offered - products including better SPAM filtering of your e-mail, faxes in your e-mail inbox, parental control software and more will be available in the very near future. To find out more about these services, please visit their Web site at www.InternetAmerica.com.
Let me reassure that you that you will not experience service disruptions or pricing changes with your service. Your e-mail address will remain the same. You will still get the same service or even better than what you have come to expect. However, June will be the last month that you will receive an invoice from us. Starting in July, your invoice will be from Internet America. If we automatically bill your credit card or withdraw your monthly payment from your checking account, in July, your statement will note that the funds have been withdrawn by Internet America. Also, our customer support phone number has changed. If you need help, please call 1.800.Be.A.Geek. These are great folks. They will take care of you.
We are as committed as ever to remaining your local Internet service provider. I will still be a part of the company. Please visit www.InternetAmerica.com/nodial/faq for more information and to find out answers to some frequently asked questions. You can also e-mail me at pete.davis@airmail.net.
I appreciate you being a NoDial customer for all these years, and I look forward to an exciting future with you.
Warmest regards,
Pete Davis
